Accounting for Pride

Presented by CPA Australia

Thursday 14 February 2019, 5.30 PM - 7.30 PM

CPA Australia  Level 16, HSBC House, 1 Queen Street, Auckland Central
Free Event

Please join us for the launch of Accounting for Pride.

The indisputable cornerstones of a strong accounting profession are trust, integrity, service and knowledge. As the profession continues to grow we pose the question: how do we ensure it is inclusive and reflects the diversity of our modern society? From our historically exclusive foundations – is the new era of accounting rather more… rainbow coloured?

If you’re interested in contributing to an inclusive profession, whether as an LGBTQ+-identifying or LBGTQ+-supportive leader, professional, educator, employer or student, we’d be delighted if you’d join us for this conversation. All are welcome.

Former Lincoln University lecturer and now Associate Professor at Monash Business School Dr Nick McGuigan and colleague Dr Alessandro Ghio will present on their ground-breaking Queering Accounting project. This ambitious new research looks at how queer perspectives may enhance creativity, innovation and leadership in professional services firms and accounting organisations. A thought leader in accounting education, Dr McGuigan co-instigated The Accountability Institute – a progressive platform with an aim of fostering collaborations between art, science, technology and economics, bringing these fields into conversation to create a new language of accountability. He is Co-Chair of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) Accounting Education Special Interest Group and provides service roles to institutions like the American Accounting Association (AAA), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Higher Education, Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA).
